Peacock's 'Crystal Lake' horror prequel premieres Oct. 15

Peacock is set to launch "Crystal Lake," a prequel series to the classic "Friday the 13th" films, on Thursday, October 15. The eight‑episode drama will follow the backstory of Pamela Voorhees, the mother of Jason Voorhees, with Linda Cardellini portraying the titular character. Cardellini says the role lets her explore a previously unexplored side of the horror legend.

The series also introduces a young Jason, played by child actor Callum Vinson, alongside a supporting cast that includes Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, Phoenix Parnevik, William Catlett and others. Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane describes the project as a “mix‑tape” of ideas for Pamela’s character. First‑look images were released on March 13, a Friday the 13th, and the production has seen several shifts since its original 2022 announcement, including a change in creative leadership.

"Crystal Lake" will stream exclusively on Peacock in the United States, delivering new horror content to fans of the franchise.
