The Pear Lake wildfire near Clinton, British Columbia, is estimated to cover 159,317 hectares and remains out of control. While recent precipitation provided short-term relief, the BC Wildfire Service warns that prolonged drought and forecasted hot, dry weather could increase fire activity in the afternoons.

Evacuation orders for the Village of Clinton and 373 properties in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District Area E were downgraded to alerts, though an order remains in place for approximately 80 properties in the same area. BC Wildfire Service crews are conducting mop-up operations and extinguishing hotspots in several locations, including Clinton, Chasm, and 70 Mile.

To manage the blaze, officials are planning multiple ignition operations across the north, south, and northwest flanks to establish containment lines. Meanwhile, BC Hydro is working to repair electrical infrastructure damaged by the fire. As of Friday, approximately 345 customers remained without power, primarily in the 70 Mile House area.
