Pear Lake wildfire near Clinton shows minimal growth
The Pear Lake wildfire near Clinton, British Columbia, is currently classified as out of control but has shown minimal growth over recent days. As of August 28, 2026, the fire is estimated to cover 165,847 hectares, having increased by 1,107 hectares since August 23.
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) has adjusted its emergency response. While some reports indicate 61 properties remain under evacuation orders, other updates note that the TNRD downgraded an evacuation order for 69 addressed properties in Area “E” to an evacuation alert. Currently, five addressed properties remain under evacuation order, with 351 properties on alert.
The BC Wildfire Service reports that cooler and more humid conditions are moving into the region, which may help dampen fire behavior and allow crews to make progress. Crews are actively working in the Big Bar Mountain area to extinguish hotspots and construct contingency lines. Aerial infrared scanning is being utilized to identify and manage heat pockets within the fire perimeter.
