Pearl Abyss celebrates five years of BIGEM indie game support
Pearl Abyss has announced the five-year achievements of its BIGEM (BIC Indie Global Expansion Marketing) initiative, a project designed to support domestic indie game developers in entering international markets. Since its inception in 2022, the program has assisted 44 companies in participating in major global events such as Japan’s BitSummit and Gamescom Asia.
Operated in collaboration with the Game Culture Foundation, the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, and the Busan Indie Connect Festival (BIC) Organizing Committee, the initiative provides comprehensive support including booth operations at overseas game shows, travel expenses, local marketing, and networking opportunities with international buyers and investors.
Key business outcomes reported include 30 instances of Steam wishlist growth, 20 media and influencer exposures, 19 follow-up meetings with publishers, and 9 investment meetings. The program has also contributed to several award wins at the Korea Game Awards and Gamescom Asia. For its fifth year, Pearl Abyss has selected 12 new companies to receive support for upcoming participation in events like BitSummit and Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show.
