Pearl Jam features Abe Laboriel Jr. on drums at Ohana Festival

Pearl Jam has featured Abe Laboriel Jr. on drums during recent performances at the Ohana Festival in California, sparking speculation regarding the band's permanent lineup. Laboriel Jr., who has been the longtime drummer for Paul McCartney, performed during both a surprise set with frontman Eddie Vedder and the band's headlining appearance.

While the appearance has led many to believe Laboriel Jr. is the official successor to Matt Cameron, who departed the group last year after a 27-year tenure, frontman Eddie Vedder clarified in a social media message that Laboriel Jr. was “sitting in on drums for PJ.” Vedder expressed deep gratitude to both Laboriel and McCartney for the collaboration, noting that Laboriel is “extraordinary at his craft.”

Bassist Jeff Ament previously indicated that the band had identified a top candidate for the role, but no official permanent appointment has been announced. The band's performances at the festival marked their first live shows since Cameron's departure.
