Pearl Thusi disputes reported R15 million SARS tax demand

South African actress and media personality Pearl Thusi has responded to reports that the South African Revenue Service (SARS) issued a final demand regarding an alleged tax debt of nearly R15 million.

The reported demand reportedly consists of approximately R9.8 million in personal income tax, R5.2 million in interest, and R20,000 in administrative penalties. The notice allegedly gave Thusi 10 business days to settle the amount or pursue available legal remedies.

Through her spokesperson, Thusi acknowledged the matter and stated she is engaging directly with SARS. However, she disputed the reported total, describing the R15 million figure as “grossly incorrect and therefore misleading.” She emphasized that she takes her tax obligations seriously and intends to resolve the matter constructively, while noting that her tax affairs are confidential.
