Pebble Time 2 smartwatch launches with retro design

The Pebble Time 2 smartwatch has returned to the market, priced at $225. Led by original founder Eric Migicovsky and the company Core Devices, the device focuses on a retro aesthetic and simplicity rather than high-end computing power.

Unlike modern competitors that use OLED touchscreens, the Pebble Time 2 features a 64-color e-paper display. This technology allows for an extended battery life of approximately 21 days on a single charge. The hardware includes physical buttons, a stainless steel frame, and 3 ATM water resistance. It is available in several colors, including blue, red, silver, and black.

The device relies heavily on a dedicated community of developers and users who maintained the ecosystem after the original company closed. This community has contributed over 2,120 customizable watch faces and various applications. Core Devices reports having already distributed more than 25,000 units across 93 countries. While the watch offers notifications, music control, and health tracking, users may face integration limitations on iOS due to Apple's policies. A new model, the Pebble Round 2, is expected in September.
