PEC Zwolle announces signings of Van Hooijdonk and Krastev

PEC Zwolle has announced two significant player acquisitions to strengthen its squad for the Eredivisie season.

Sydney van Hooijdonk, a 26-year-old forward, joins the club on a season-long loan from Portuguese side Estrela Amadora. The deal includes an option to purchase. Van Hooijdonk, who has extensive experience in the Eredivisie with clubs like NAC Breda and SC Heerenveen, expressed his excitement about returning to the Dutch league. Technical director Gerry Hamstra noted that Van Hooijdonk’s profile fits the club’s search for attacking reinforcement.

Additionally, PEC Zwolle has secured the return of attacking midfielder Filip Krastev. The 24-year-old Bulgarian international joins on loan from Belgian club Lommel SK for the remainder of the season, with a real option to buy. Krastev, who is part of the City Football Group, previously enjoyed successful spells with the club. Technical director Hamstra described the signing as an “absolute opportunity,” despite Krastev currently recovering from an injury sustained last season.
