PEC Zwolle dismisses head coach Henry van der Vegt

PEC Zwolle has dismissed head coach Henry van der Vegt following a poor start to the Eredivisie season. The club became the first in the league to sack their manager this season.

The 54-year-old coach, who previously served as an assistant at the club, was appointed head coach at the start of the 2025/26 season. The decision follows a series of disappointing results, including a 0-1 loss to SC Cambuur and significant defeats such as a 0-7 loss to Feyenoord. The team currently sits in sixteenth place with only four points from their initial matches.

Technical director Gerry Hamstra stated that the decision was made because there was “too little stability and development visible on a sporting level.” Hamstra expressed gratitude to Van der Vegt for his long-standing service to the club. The club has not yet announced a successor ahead of the upcoming IJsselderby against Go Ahead Eagles.
