PEC Zwolle faces coaching transition ahead of IJsselderby

PEC Zwolle is facing a period of instability following the dismissal of head coach Henry van der Vegt. The club currently sits in sixteenth place in the Eredivisie, having secured only one win in eight matches.

Dennis van der Ree will lead the team alongside Maikel van der Werff for the upcoming IJsselderby against Go Ahead Eagles. While Van der Ree is managing the team for the match, he stated that a permanent head coaching position is not currently an option for him.

Efforts to find a permanent replacement have seen interest in former FC Twente coach René Hake, though Hake has reportedly declined the vacancy after discussions with technical director Gerry Hamstra.

The upcoming derby arrives amid discussions regarding the declining intensity of the rivalry between the two clubs, with some supporters suggesting that increased regulations have diminished the traditional passion of the fixture.
