Peccioli reopens Bosco dei Frati to the community
The Bosco dei Frati Cappuccini in Peccioli has officially reopened to the community after a long period of closure. The reopening has served as a significant emotional milestone for a generation of local residents who spent their childhoods participating in summer camps and activities organized by the Capuchin Friars.
A group of former participants, who once transitioned from children to mentors for younger peers, reunited at the site to celebrate. In a letter addressed to the municipal administration, the group described the reopening as more than just the reclamation of a green space, stating it has ‘reopened a parenthesis of life that had remained suspended for years.’
The group’s last collective gathering took place in 2016 to bid farewell to their former guide, Padre Riccardo. They marked the return to the woods with a simple communal snack, mirroring the traditions of their youth and highlighting the site's importance to the town's historical and social identity.
