Francesco Bagnaia signs four‑year deal with Aprilia Racing from 2027

Three‑time MotoGP world champion Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia will leave Ducati after eight seasons and join Aprilia Racing on a four‑year contract running from 2027 to 2030. The agreement makes Bagnaia the longest‑term rider currently signed in the premier class and pairs him with fellow Italian Marco Bezzecchi for an all‑Italian factory lineup.

Bagnaia’s move coincides with the start of MotoGP’s new 850 cc engine regulations in 2027. Aprilia highlighted the signing as a boost for Italian sport, with team boss Massimo Rivola praising the champion’s experience and the stability a four‑year partnership provides. Ducati, meanwhile, will replace Bagnaia with Pedro Acosta and Marc Márquez for 2027, leaving its factory team without an Italian rider.

The transition follows reportedly difficult contract talks with Ducati, which opted to retain Márquez long‑term and bring in Acosta, prompting Bagnaia’s departure. Bagnaia expressed gratitude to Ducati and looked forward to building success with Aprilia.
