Pecorino Romano producers launch PR Service to manage stocks

Producers of Pecorino Romano have established PR Service, a new company designed to manage the production chain and protect the product's value. Developed in collaboration with the Sardinia Region and Sfirs, the initiative aims to ensure fair remuneration for livestock farmers through structural, long-term management rather than emergency measures.

The company’s first major action will be a ‘destocking’ operation to manage cheese reserves. This involves withdrawing 3,000 tons of Pecorino Romano from the market to balance production and availability. These stocks will be gradually reintroduced during periods of lower availability to stabilize the market and support the income of milk producers.
