Pedagogia de l’Espectacle faces funding challenges in Catalonia

The initiative Pedagogia de l’Espectacle is facing significant operational difficulties due to ongoing tensions between Catalan public school teachers and the Department of Education. As part of teacher protests regarding school resources, public schools in Terrassa have decided not to participate in the program's proposed activities for the 2026-2027 course.

These measures include the suppression of excursions, outings, and school trips, which directly impacts leisure professionals. Pedagogia de l’Espectacle, an organization with over fifty years of experience bringing performing arts to children, reports receiving only one-third of the usual requests for scheduled performances.

Màrius Massallé, president of the Fundació Torre del Palau, stated that while the organization supports the teachers' demands for quality education and better resources, they are concerned about losing the impact of performing arts pedagogy.
