Pedestrian dies in three-vehicle collision on M56

A 38-year-old man from Golborne has died following a collision involving three vehicles on the M56 eastbound. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning between junctions 12 (Runcorn) and 14 (Hapsford).

Emergency services responded to the scene at approximately 12:50 am, where they encountered a black Dacia Duster, a red Kia Niro, and a black Ford Focus. Despite medical intervention, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The M56 eastbound was closed for several hours to allow the Serious Collision Investigation Unit to conduct inquiries, reopening at approximately 9:15 am. Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
