Pedestrian footbridge projects launched in Chile and El Salvador

Infrastructure developments are underway in Chile and El Salvador to improve pedestrian safety on major highways.

In Chile, the Sociedad Concesionaria Bosques del Itata has scheduled work for the installation of the Quinchamalí pedestrian footbridge on Ruta 152. On September 30 and October 1, 2026, heavy cranes will be used to mount the main beams. A total traffic closure is planned for September 30 between 21:00 and 22:00 hours. Alternative routes via N-66-O and Quinchamalí have been designated for travelers heading toward Chillán or Concepción.

In El Salvador, the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has inaugurated a new pedestrian footbridge over the highway to Comalapa, located near the Terminal del Sur in the San Marcos district. The structure stands 5.65 meters above the highway to accommodate heavy vehicle traffic and includes metal protective railings and handrails. The project aims to provide a safe crossing for local residents and workers in a high-traffic commercial and industrial zone.
