Pedestrian struck by motorcycle suffers severe injuries in Blumenau, Brazil
A 53‑year‑old man was critically injured after being hit by a motorcycle on Dr. Pedro Zimmermann Street in the Itoupava Central district of Blumenau on the night of 1 July. According to the local fire department, the pedestrian lost consciousness and sustained a suspected head trauma and a fractured arm. He was attended by SAMU and transferred to Hospital Santa Isabel. The motorcycle rider, a 27‑year‑old, suffered injuries to his head and hip and was also taken to the same hospital. The State Highway Police opened a police report, but the exact cause of the collision was not disclosed.
The incident occurred as the city prepares a major road‑expansion project on Dr. Pedro Zimmermann, funded with R$ 35 million for property compensation, aiming to improve traffic flow and safety.
