Pediatric dental health linked to school focus
As the new academic year approaches, dental health experts are emphasizing the importance of pediatric dental evaluations to support children's educational focus. Dr. İpek Kınıkoğlu from Atlas University Faculty of Dentistry highlights that dental health is not merely the absence of cavities, but includes the ability to sleep without pain, chew comfortably, speak, and smile.
Kınıkoğlu notes that while dental examinations are not a direct method for increasing academic success, they serve as a preventive measure to eliminate health issues that hinder learning. Dental pain can distract students during lessons, reading, or exams. Furthermore, toothaches that intensify at night can disrupt sleep, leading to fatigue, restlessness, and lack of concentration the following day. Early detection of infections, chewing difficulties, and pain is essential for ensuring children can participate in school life without interruption.
