Pediatric health: Importance of regular check-ups and screenings

Regular medical consultations, diagnostic exams, and vaccinations are essential for monitoring child development and identifying asymptomatic health issues. Medical professionals emphasize that conditions such as high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and glucose alterations are not exclusive to adults and can often appear in children without visible symptoms.

According to the Brazilian Guidelines for Dyslipidemia and Atherosclerosis Prevention from the Brazilian Society of Cardiology, lipid profile evaluations are recommended for children between 9 and 11 years old, regardless of risk factors. If there is a family history of high cholesterol or early cardiovascular disease, investigations may begin earlier under medical guidance.

Beyond clinical exams, healthy lifestyle habits within the family unit are critical. Experts suggest that physical activity, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and reducing screen time are vital components in maintaining long-term pediatric health.
