Pediatrician Chia Liang Saw faces 53 child sexual abuse charges in Perth
Western Australian pediatrician Chia Liang Saw appeared in Perth Magistrates Court charged with 53 offences relating to the sexual abuse of ten children, including persistent sexual conduct, indecent dealing, and production of child exploitation material. The case originated from a sting operation conducted by a self‑described “vigilante pedophile hunter” who posed as a child on a social‑media app and passed information to investigators.
The court adjourned Saw’s bail application to allow a home‑detention report, noting that further five offences are expected to be added. Victims included eight girls aged 12‑15, a 10‑year‑old girl abused at Saw’s home, and a 13‑year‑old exploited online. Saw’s medical registration has been suspended and he remains in custody pending a hearing on July 10. Magistrate Matthew Walton warned that a conviction could result in a substantial prison term.
