Pediatrician Nebojša Kavarić denies link between MMR vaccine and autism

Pediatrician Nebojša Kavarić, former director of the Podgorica Health Center, has stated that there is no causal link between the MMR vaccine and autism. He noted that scientific evidence from decades of research and international health institutions consistently refutes this connection.

Kavarić addressed parental resistance to vaccination, characterizing it as a significant issue of trust and communication rather than a matter for judgment. He emphasized that parents are often exposed to inaccurate or scientifically unfounded information and stressed that the role of pediatricians is to provide verified medical facts to help parents make informed decisions.

Regarding the potential requirement of mandatory vaccination for kindergarten attendance, Kavarić expressed support for measures that align with pediatric science to increase vaccination coverage and protect both individual children and the wider community, particularly those unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons.
