Pedra Preta father faces criminal charges for allowing minor to drive

In Pedra Preta, Mato Grosso, a father faces criminal charges after allowing his 17-year-old son to operate a scooter. Military Police intercepted the vehicle on Avenida Governador Ponce de Arruda, identifying that the minor lacked a valid driver's license.

Authorities issued a Term of Occurrence (TCO) against the father. Under Article 310 of the Brazilian Traffic Code, handing a vehicle to an unlicensed individual is classified as a traffic crime of abstract danger, meaning the act itself constitutes a risk to public safety regardless of whether an accident occurs. The vehicle was released only after a licensed driver arrived to claim it and all traffic fines were settled.
