Pedro Acosta clarifies motivations for 2027 Ducati move
MotoGP rider Pedro Acosta has clarified his decision to join Ducati in 2027, refuting claims made by KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister regarding his motivations. Neumeister previously suggested that Acosta's move was driven by a desire to compete against Marc Marquez using the same machinery.
Acosta stated that his primary goal, alongside his manager Albert Valera, was to secure a seat on the most competitive motorcycle and within the most successful team of the last decade. He emphasized that he does not wish to beat Marquez on identical equipment, but rather views the opportunity to ride alongside him as a unique chance to learn from one of the greatest riders in the sport's history.
Acosta also addressed his departure from KTM, noting that he did not negotiate a move but rather declined a contract offer. He maintained that even if he loses in direct competition with Marquez, the long-term developmental benefits of the move outweigh the risks to his career.
