Pedro Acosta discusses lack of rivalries in MotoGP paddock

MotoGP rider Pedro Acosta has expressed a preference for maintaining distance from other competitors in the paddock, stating that he has never had friends among his fellow riders. The Spanish rider argues that the modern championship lacks the intense sporting rivalries that characterized previous eras.

Acosta explained that because all riders are pursuing the same ultimate goal, it is difficult to maintain sincere friendships with those who are direct competitors. He noted that this distance allows him to focus entirely on winning without the hesitation or 'scruples' that might arise from personal ties when attempting to overtake someone on the track.

Reflecting on the history of the sport, Acosta cited legendary rivalries such as Valentino Rossi against Max Biaggi, Mick Doohan against quite a few, and Rossi against Marc Marquez. He suggested that the current era of MotoGP might be missing the 'spicy ingredient' of such high-tension competition.
