Pedro Acosta emerges as major MotoGP title contender

Pedro Acosta is emerging as a significant threat in the MotoGP championship following his victory at the Austrian Grand Prix. His performance has tightened the title race, which currently features Jorge Martín leading Marc Márquez by twelve points, with Marco Bezzecchi and Acosta trailing by 30 points.

Former rider Rubén Xaus noted that Acosta’s increasing competitiveness with KTM is a growing concern for Marc Márquez, suggesting the championship has evolved into a multi-way battle. KTM Technical Director Sebastian Risse highlighted that Acosta’s unique riding style—characterized by hard, late braking and unconventional early turn-ins—allows him to attack effectively while maintaining control.

Acosta has consistently outperformed his KTM teammates, securing multiple podium finishes in recent races including Thailand, Austin, Barcelona, Hungary, Aragon, and Misano. Risse observed that Acosta’s riding style has become more refined and controlled, allowing him to utilize his technical advantages more effectively during races.
