Pedro Acosta leaves KTM for Ducati in MotoGP

Spanish MotoGP rider Pedro Acosta announced he will leave the KTM factory team to join Ducati. He said he has “no more time to waste” and wants a bike that can win the championship, noting that the KTM machine is not yet competitive enough. KTM’s motorsport director Pit Beirer called the rider’s departure “frustrating” but affirmed the team will move on.

Acosta rose through KTM’s ranks, winning the Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2020, then titles in Moto3 and Moto2 before stepping up to MotoGP in 2024 with the factory KTM squad. Despite strong performances, he has yet to secure a Grand Prix victory. Ducati’s offer aligns with the upcoming 850‑cc era planned for 2027, and Acosta will become a teammate of Marco Márquez.

The move underscores the competitive pressure in MotoGP as manufacturers develop new machinery, and it may reshape the rider line‑up for the coming seasons.
