Pedro Acosta signs with Ducati for the 2027 MotoGP season
Spanish MotoGP rider Pedro Acosta, 22, will leave Red Bull KTM after the 2026 season and join the factory Ducati team starting in 2027. The move gives him the opportunity to ride a more competitive machine as the RC16 has not delivered the performance needed for a world‑title bid, prompting Acosta to seek a bike capable of winning under the upcoming 850 cc engine, Pirelli tyre and revised aerodynamic regulations.
At Ducati, Acosta will share a garage with six‑time champion Marc Márquez, exposing him to heightened expectations and pressure to match the benchmark set by Márquez. The transition will require Acosta to adapt quickly to a new bike, technical staff and Ducati’s data‑intensive development approach while mastering the new regulations.
The signing marks one of the most high‑profile rider transfers ahead of the 2027 MotoGP overhaul.
