Pedro Alliana weighs technical candidate for vice presidency
Pedro Alliana, the presidential pre-candidate for the Colorado Party, has indicated a preference for a technical candidate from the capital to serve as his running mate, rather than a political figure from the interior of the country. This stance potentially excludes Guairá Governor César Sosa from the ticket.
Deputy Alejandro Aguilera noted that while political decisions often leave ‘wounded’ parties, he and other legislators have committed to respecting Alliana’s final decision. Aguilera expressed a personal preference for a political leader with social sensitivity and grassroots connections, but acknowledged that the choice rests solely with the presidential candidate.
In response to the shifting dynamics, Governor Sosa confirmed he has met with former President Mario Abdo. There are reports that if Alliana selects a technical profile, such as Industry Minister Marco Riquelme, some governors might move toward the opposition. Rumors suggest Arnoldo Wiens could potentially form a ticket with Sosa to compete against the officialist faction.
