Pedro Avila leads SSG Landers to victory with complete game
SSG Landers pitcher Pedro Avila delivered a dominant performance on September 29, pitching a complete game to secure a 7-1 victory against the LG Twins in Incheon. Avila pitched nine innings, allowing only eight hits and one home run while striking out six, lowering his season ERA from 1.62 to 1.56.
Since joining the KBO League as a replacement player in July, Avila has maintained exceptional statistics, including a 1.56 ERA and a 92.3% quality start rate over 13 games. His performance has been compared favorably to previous standout foreign pitchers in the league.
Following his performance, SSG manager Lee Sung-yong expressed a strong desire to retain Avila for the 2027 season, instructing the club's front office to secure his contract by any means necessary. Avila has reportedly expressed satisfaction with his life in Korea and is considering staying for at least two more years before potentially pursuing opportunities in Major League Baseball.
