Pedro Delgado Arrested After Setting Fire in Calvillo Home

On the early hours of July 27, 2026, a man identified as Pedro Delgado set fire to a second‑floor bedroom in a house on Calle Libertad in the La Panadera community of Calvillo, Aguascalientes, Mexico. His partner, Elvia Ramírez, was trapped inside and suffered severe burns. Neighbours heard her cries, breached the locked doors from the rear, and rescued her before firefighters arrived. Ramírez was taken to Hospital Hidalgo in critical condition, while Delgado, who escaped injury, was hospitalized under police custody. Authorities are investigating him for attempted femicide and illegal deprivation of liberty.

The incident has prompted calls for stronger protections against domestic violence in the region, and the case remains under the jurisdiction of the state prosecutor’s office.
