Pedro Henrique Biondo travels 10,000 km to promote Brazilian caipira culture
Pedro Henrique Biondo, a civil engineer from Orindiúva, Brazil, has completed a 10,000-kilometer journey across 16 countries to promote Brazilian 'caipira' culture. Known as the 'Berranteiro das Américas,' Biondo left his professional career in 2023 to showcase rural traditions that extend beyond the global stereotypes of samba and football.
Accompanied by his Border Collie, Bastião, Biondo utilized traditional clothing and the 'berrante'—a traditional horn instrument—to represent rural identity. His travels included notable moments such as a performance in New York City’s Times Square. Biondo, a four-time champion of the Barretos Rodeo Berrante Contest, has built a social media following of approximately one million people to document his expedition.
Despite facing challenges such as extreme weather, difficult terrain, and navigating unfamiliar cultures, Biondo plans to continue his mission. His next planned destination is Alaska, where he intends to further spread the reach of caipira traditions.
