Pedro Hernández Chávez sworn in as President of Peru's Constitutional Court

Pedro Hernández Chávez has been sworn in as the new president of Peru's Constitutional Court (TC) for the 2026-2028 term. The inauguration ceremony took place at the institution's headquarters in San Isidro.

During the ceremony, Luz Pacheco Zerga was sworn in as vice president of the TC, and Francisco Morales Saravia assumed the role of general director of the Center for Constitutional Studies (CEC).

In his inaugural address, Hernández Chávez emphasized his commitment to defending the Constitution, democracy, and fundamental rights. He stated that the Constitution belongs to all Peruvians as a means to guarantee freedom and limit the exercise of power. A primary objective of his administration will be to substantively reduce the court's caseload to ensure more swift and timely constitutional justice. He also expressed a goal of leading a transparent institution that remains close to the citizenry.
