Pedro II man dies in shotgun accident during hunting trip

A man named Evando Gonçalves de Melo died after being struck by a shotgun blast during a hunting trip in the rural area of Pedro II, in northern Piauí. The incident occurred on Friday, August 14, in the Olho d’Água do Cedro locality.

According to reports, the victim was hunting with his brother and two others using a handmade shotgun. The group had separated during the trek. The victim's brother reported hearing a call for help followed by a shot and a groan while he was approximately 100 meters away. By the time the group returned to the location, the man had already passed away.

The Military Police isolated the scene for forensic examination, and the body was sent to the Legal Medicine Institute (IMLA). The Civil Police are investigating the circumstances to determine who was holding the weapon at the time of the discharge.
