Pedro Juan Caballero security concerns rise following violence escalation
Deputy Santiago Benítez has called for increased security measures in Pedro Juan Caballero, Amambay, following an escalation in criminal violence. During a legislative session, Benítez expressed concern that the recent rotation of leadership within the National Police and the Department of Investigations has allowed criminal structures to operate without effective oversight.
The lawmaker highlighted a recent brutal homicide of a woman as a significant example of the rising instability. He formally requested that the Commander of the National Police and the Ministry of the Interior fulfill their constitutional mandate to guarantee internal security. Benítez emphasized that the ongoing violence, which has begun to affect family circles previously uninvolved in criminal disputes, threatens local businesses, families, and the institutional image of the departmental capital.
