Pedro Lozano denied access to economic meeting in Nuevo Laredo

Businessman Pedro Lozano was denied entry to an official meeting of the Investment Committee of the Secretariat of Economy in Nuevo Laredo on September 17. Despite being invited by the Director General of Planning of the Mexican Secretariat of Economy, Lozano was turned away by event organizers.

The incident has raised questions regarding coordination between the state, federal government, and the private sector. Observers noted that more than 20 seats remained vacant in the hall, with some spaces allegedly occupied by event staff instead of invited guests. Lozano is involved in economic development projects in the border region and initiatives related to the Plan México promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Speculation has emerged regarding whether the exclusion was intended to prevent contact between a federal official and the businessman. While some allegations point toward the environment of the Tamaulipas Secretary of Economy, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, no official explanation has been provided for the denial of access.
