Pedro Martínez moves from Valencia Basket to Real Madrid

The Spanish Liga Endesa has seen several controversial coaching changes that have shaped the history of the competition. Most recently, in the summer of 2026, Pedro Martínez moved from Valencia Basket to Real Madrid. This transition occurred just two days after Martínez led Valencia to the Liga Endesa championship. Real Madrid secured his services by offering an irresistible deal that included a one-million-euro payment to release him from his contract, following a period of instability under Sergio Scariolo.

Historically, the league has also been marked by significant moves such as Aíto García Reneses' transition from Joventut to Barcelona in the summer of 1985. At the time, García Reneses was a highly sought-after coach, and his move to Barcelona was seen as a major step in the rivalry between the two clubs.
