Pedro Rodríguez announces retirement from professional football

Spanish footballer Pedro Rodríguez has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 39. The former winger, who most recently played for Lazio, shared the news via a video on social media, stating, “I feel that now is the moment. The moment to take a step forward and start a new chapter in my life.”

Pedro leaves behind an exceptionally decorated career, having won approximately 25 major trophies. He was a key figure during the golden era of FC Barcelona under Pep Guardiola, winning three Champions League titles, five La Liga titles, and several other domestic and international trophies. His club career also included successful stints at Chelsea, where he won the Premier League and Europa League, as well as spells at AS Roma and Lazio.

On the international stage, Pedro was a vital member of the Spanish national team during its most successful period. He was a starter in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final and won the UEFA Euro 2012 championship. His retirement marks the end of an era for a generation of players who dominated European and international football for over a decade.
