Pedro Rodríguez honored by Barcelona following retirement announcement

Former Spanish international Pedro Rodríguez has officially retired from professional football. To honor his career, FC Barcelona held a special tribute event at the Auditori 1899 and a ceremonial kick-off at Spotify Camp Nou before their match against Getafe.

During his farewell, Pedro reflected on his journey, noting that he felt it was the “ideal moment” to step aside as he no longer felt mentally or physically prepared to compete at the highest level. He expressed deep gratitude to his former teammates, coaches, and fans, specifically highlighting Pep Guardiola as a mentor who acted “like a father” during his early years at Barcelona.

Pedro’s illustrious career included winning 25 titles, such as three UEFA Champions League trophies with Barcelona and the 2010 FIFA World Cup with Spain. He also noted his time in Italy with Lazio, expressing both affection for the fans and a slight regret at not winning a trophy during his tenure there. He plans to focus on his family and friends as he begins this new chapter.
