Pedro Silverio releases collection of Dominican economic essays

Economist Pedro Silverio has released a new book titled ‘Ensayos de Economía Pública Dominicana. La interacción entre economía, política e instituciones’, edited by the Archivo General de la Nación. The volume compiles hundreds of weekly essays originally published in Diario Libre between 2013 and 2020.

The collection provides a longitudinal perspective on the movement of the Dominican Republic's economy and politics over a seven-year period. Silverio, who currently serves as economic advisor to President Luis Abinader, noted that his transition into political advisory roles has provided deeper insight into how political interests interact with economic theories.

Silverio emphasized that his writings were intended to be pedagogical, aiming to connect economic concepts with practical reality. He observed that while specific figures may change, the fundamental structural problems facing the country remain persistent over decades.
