Pedro Sánchez awards posthumous Grand Cross to David Lucas

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has posthumously awarded the Grand Cross of the Civil Merit Order to David Lucas, the former Secretary of State for Housing and former Mayor of Móstoles. The award, presented to Lucas's family, recognizes his extensive career in public service and his commitment to defending the constitutional right to dignified housing.

Lucas, who passed away on July 20 at the age of 58, held several significant positions, including Secretary of State for Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda. His political career was deeply rooted in the Madrid region, having served as the Mayor of Móstoles between 2011 and 2018 and holding roles in Getafe. He was also an elected Senator for Madrid during the XII Legislature.
