Pedro Sánchez criticizes PP and Vox Senate alliance
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has criticized a pact between the People's Party (PP) and Vox to present joint lists for the Senate. Sánchez characterized the agreement as evidence that the two parties represent a single political project, claiming they share identical stances on pensions, women's rights, and the welfare state.
The alliance between the right-wing parties aims to protect their current majority in the Senate. Under the agreement, Vox will withdraw entirely or partially in twenty provinces. The PP will not present candidates for the Senate in Guipúzcoa, Girona, or Tarragona.
Vox plans to opt for strategic withdrawals in Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Cádiz, Valencia, Castellón, and the Balearic Islands. Additionally, Vox will present a single candidate in fourteen provinces, including Sevilla, Huelva, Asturias, Badajoz, Álava, Navarra, Cáceres, Huesca, Zaragoza, Alicante, and Granada.
