Pedro Sánchez Faces Accusations of State‑Level Corruption in Spain

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the president of Galicia and leader of the People’s Party, has accused Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of being the “inductor” of a so‑called “state crime”. Feijóo claims the government is using illegal practices to hide corruption scandals and to divert attention from alleged misconduct within Sánchez’s own party.

The government has rejected the accusations, stating there is no evidence linking Sánchez to the investigations led by judge Santiago Pedraz. Officials in the Palacio de la Moncloa say the judicial probe does not contain any indication that the prime minister should be formally investigated or called as a witness. They describe a defensive strategy aimed at preventing any future legal developments from affecting the executive and to reassure parliamentary allies.

Both sides cite the ongoing probe into a network of officials tied to the Socialist Party, but no judicial body has yet proven that Sánchez had knowledge of or directed the alleged activities.
