Pedro Sánchez meets Catalan business leaders to discuss economic challenges

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Catalan President Salvador Illa met with representatives from Catalonia’s major business and economic entities, known as the G8, at the Palau de Pedralbes in Barcelona. During the meeting, business leaders presented a series of proposals and expressed concerns regarding the Catalan economy and its competitiveness.

The key issues raised by the business groups included regional financing, infrastructure deficits, housing accessibility, migration, and the scale of local companies. According to attendees, the dialogue was frank, with Sánchez reportedly taking notes on the demands presented.

Following the meeting, Sánchez visited the Illa Sibèria project, an affordable rental housing development located in a former ice factory, to address the ongoing housing challenges discussed during the summit.
