Javier Milei criticizes Pedro Sánchez during Madrid visit

Argentine President Javier Milei engaged in a series of sharp verbal confrontations during his visit to Madrid, Spain. Speaking at the Nueva Economía Forum, Milei labeled Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez an ‘impresentable dictator’, ‘thief’, and ‘corrupt’. He further characterized the Spanish government as a branch of Argentine ‘Kirchnerism’ and urged Spanish citizens to ‘kick the socialists out’ of power in the upcoming general elections scheduled for November 29.

During the visit, Milei met with Madrid Community President Isabel Díaz Ayuso but did not meet with Sánchez or leaders of the People's Party (PP). He also declined a meeting with King Felipe VI, as the Spanish Royal House noted that such audiences typically require a concurrent meeting with the Prime Minister. Milei also faced criticism from Spanish media after he verbally insulted a journalist from Cadena SER, calling her ‘intellectually short’ and a ‘miserable politician’ following a question regarding his presence in Spain.

In response to the insults, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a formal condemnation of Milei’s remarks, rejecting external interference and the use of inflammatory language. Meanwhile, Pedro Sánchez responded to the tension by sharing a song by Argentine singer Lali Espósito on social media.
