Pedro Sánchez ramps up campaign activities ahead of Spanish elections
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is intensifying his campaign activities ahead of the general elections scheduled for November 29. In a recent social media video, Sánchez appeared running alongside First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, using the phrase “¡A por cuatro más!” to signal a desire for political continuity.
Internal campaign documents suggest a strategic shift in the PSOE's messaging. The campaign team reportedly views former President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero as “worn out” (desgastado) and intends to minimize his presence. Instead, the party is looking to elevate Carlos Cuerpo as a key figure to project an image of coexistence and to appeal to undecided voters and those prone to abstention, noting that Cuerpo holds favorable ratings across various age groups.
Separately, Sánchez's use of the official Falcon 900 aircraft for travel to Asturias has reignited debate regarding the distinction between institutional obligations and political party commitments. The aircraft was used for a trip that included an official visit to Astilleros Armón and a subsequent PSOE political rally in Gijón.
