Pedro Sánchez urged to resign by Podemos amid corruption scandals
Podemos secretary‑general Ione Belarra told Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in a parliamentary session that his "cycle has ended" and demanded his resignation, accusing the government of causing "irreparable damage" through recent corruption cases involving the PSOE. She cited the indictment of former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, the Leire Díaz affair, and the 24‑year prison sentence of ex‑minister José Luis Ábalos as examples of the party’s failures. Belarra condemned the administration as a "deep disappointment" and warned that each minute the government remains in power adds votes to the PP and Vox.
Her remarks were made while Sánchez appeared before Congress to address the scandals, and other opposition figures, such as ERC spokesperson Gabriel Rufián, echoed calls for accountability.
