Pedro Varela presents 20-year career exhibition in Rio de Janeiro

Artist Pedro Varela is presenting a new individual exhibition titled ‘Até aqui tudo bem…’ at Largo das Artes in Rio de Janeiro from August 30 to October 3. Curated by Shannon Botelho, the exhibition features works spanning over 20 years of the artist's career.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is a large-scale collage created specifically for the event. Using adhesive vinyl and other materials, the work forms a landscape of bold colors that reflects Varela's visual repertoire from 2010 onwards. This collage serves as a foundation for various works from different periods of his career, including paintings and sculptures.

Rather than a traditional retrospective, the exhibition aims to explore the development of Varela's body of work, which addresses themes such as tropical landscapes, imaginary cities, chaotic narratives, and ghostly characters.
