Peel Ports Group expands UK warehousing and calls for better material logistics
Peel Ports Group is calling for a more efficient approach to the movement of construction materials in the UK to support major infrastructure and housing projects. The port operator highlighted that bottlenecks in material supply could hinder the government’s ambitious housing and infrastructure goals, including the expansion of Heathrow Airport and the Sizewell C project.
To address growing demand for strategically located storage, Peel Ports is investing in over one million square feet of Grade A warehousing across its UK network. The expansion includes a 900,000 square foot warehouse at the Port of Liverpool and a 100,000 square foot facility at King George V Dock in Glasgow.
These developments aim to improve supply chain resilience for critical industries such as chemicals, defence, manufacturing, and agriculture. The company noted that port-centric warehousing helps customers reduce transport movements and improve operational efficiency amid changing global trade patterns.
