Peel Thunder claims WAFL premiership with dominant win over Claremont
Peel Thunder secured their fourth WAFL premiership with a dominant 62-point victory over the Claremont Tigers at Optus Stadium. The Thunder established control early, leading with a powerful six-goal opening term to finish the match with a score of 16. 17 (113) to Claremont's 7. 9 (51).
Jeremy Sharp was awarded the Simpson Medal after a standout performance involving 27 disposals, seven inside 50s, and a goal. Other notable contributors for Peel included Bailey Banfield, who recorded 30 disposals and 12 marks, and young forward Charlie Nicholls, who kicked three goals. The victory follows a successful season for the club, which features 14 players aligned with the Fremantle AFL side.
Claremont struggled to contain Peel's outside run, particularly in the first half. Despite efforts from co-captain Bailey Rogers and Sam Alvarez, the Tigers were unable to overcome the significant deficit established by the Thunder's clinical play.
