Peer support aids student adjustment at Aceh boarding school
A qualitative study conducted at the Tgk. Chiek Oemar Diyan Modern Islamic Boarding School in Aceh Besar examines the role of peer support in the adjustment process of new students. The research highlights that while new students often face psychological challenges such as sadness and homesickness, as well as difficulties adapting to school regulations, peer and senior support plays a crucial role in their integration.
The study also notes that while students generally maintain good physical health, they often experience fatigue during the initial transition period. Academic performance in the first semester showed relatively good results, with general subject grades typically outperforming religious subjects.
